Microblading

Ever wonder how some celebrities have eyebrows that always look so thick? Even without makeup, many people have recently started to notice how their favorite actresses and models always seem to flaunt flawless eyebrows – something many consider to be a make-or-break facial feature. For some, thick, beautiful hair over the eye is a natural part of their body. For most, they’ve undergone a pigmenting treatment called “microblading.”

Microblading is a form of tattooing that darkens one’s eyebrows in just a single session. The tattoo, however, is only semi-permanent, almost like a long-term henna that lasts for anywhere from one to three years. This is because:

  1. The “blade” used doesn’t penetrate the skin nearly as deeply as a regular tattoo, and
  2. Microblading artists use pigment instead of ink, which exfoliates over the skin naturally and thus lightens over time.

Many will cringe at the idea of a tattoo simply because of the pain often associated with them. But remember: this is not a true tattoo. There are no needles used in these sorts of cosmetic treatments. Instead, a manual, handheld tool is used to implement the pigment, which most people find to be more loud than painful. In fact, some clients consider the experience entirely painless due to the numbing solution applied to the skin prior to pigmentation.

So, how exactly is this sort of thing done? After the numbing solution has been applied, a microblading artist uses the device to draw hair-like strokes across your eyebrows, and these drawings mimic your natural hair. The etchings are implanted just underneath the skin, allowing the “tattoo” to thicken your brow in a much cleaner and realistic way than other popular, short-term solutions (like drawn eyebrows).
