Spider veins are small abnormal blood vessels that appear along the surface of the skin. This happens due to a type of vein malfunction that interrupts the normal flow of blood as it travels back to the heart, collecting in the veins and sometimes even flowing backwards. This process weakens the vessel walls and enlarges the vein to the point where it becomes visible through the skin.
At Raleigh Laser & Aesthetics, we use laser treatment to help spider veins disappear, restoring not only a smoother and more aesthetic skin in the treatment area, but also restoring confidence to the patient. The noninvasive procedure is both safe and effective, causing spider veins to go away entirely in lieu of simply minimizing or fading.
Spider Veins Treatment FAQ
Our specialists at Raleigh Laser & Aesthetics utilize the Elite iQ laser system in order to minimize and eradicate blood vessels caused by spider veins. The Elite iQ system uses advanced technology to identify each individual patient’s skin tone and type in order to customize settings for an effective treatment. Concentrated pulses of light go directly into blood vessels, within the vein, keeping the skin safe and making spider veins disappear.
Most patients do not experience any substantial pain with laser treatment. Many equate the sensation to a tingling or a mild discomfort. Temporary discomfort is generally worth the long-term results, as our patients have shared.
Spider vein procedures depend on the size of the treatment area, and generally fall within the 10 to 30 minute range.
Each treatment plan is customized for our individual patients, as skin types and issues are all different. With spider veins, it depends on the number of veins being treated, as well as the size of the veins. Smaller veins generally only need one or two sessions at most, while larger areas and veins can take up to four sessions.
Any side effects you may experience for spider veins are both temporary and completely natural. You may have redness or swelling in the treatment area, but these usually only last a couple hours, or a day at most. There is no downtime, and you can get back to your normal activity the moment you leave the office!
